The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) jointly sponsor apprenticeship training programs that offer you the opportunity to earn wages and benefits while you learn the skills needed for a trade that can be both challenging and rewarding. You will have the chance to use your mind, as well as your physical skills, to complete work in a variety of settings with the constant opportunity to learn something new.
There are four primary specialties in electrical work. By far, Inside Wireman is the largest of the four. Nationally, the Inside Wiremen position has over 200,000 Journeymen and Apprentices who are members of the IBEW. Just as important, though fewer in number, are the Outside Linemen, Residential Wiremen, and Telecommunications Installer-Technicians.
We offer apprenticeship and training in the following areas:

Journeyman Inside Wireman
Residential Wireman
Telecommunications Installer-Technicians

 
The Inside Wireman apprenticeship program is five years; the Residential and Telecommunications Installer-Technicians apprenticeship programs are three years. The Apprentices attend classes two evenings a week, nine months a year for book training and 1800 hours a year of on the job training. In addition, through an articulation agreement with Eastern Gateway Community College our Apprentices attend courses to graduate with an Associate of Technical Study in Electrical Trades Technology from Eastern Gateway Community College. At the end of your apprenticeship you have no student loans to pay back and you have been making money the whole time you have been in school.
The Inside program costs $500.00 a year and the Residential program cost $300.00 a year. What College can you attend for just $500.00 a year? The answer is none!
 Wages & Benefits
As union members, we bargain collectively with our employers over wages, benefits, and rights.  We have the best chance of receiving better wages, benefits and fair treatment in the workplace by bargaining collectively as a union.
Your pay is based on the guidelines of the collective bargaining agreement between the Steubenville Division, North Central Ohio Chapter, N.E.C.A, and Local Union 246, I.B.E.W. You will receive pay raises every 6 months based on your progress in the classroom and on the job.
Paid benefits include a Pension, Retirement, Health & Welfare, and Vacation.
