Last month, the Parkersburg-Marietta Building and Construction Trades Council held their annual Dollars Against Diabetes Day (DAD’s Day) Sporting Clay Shoot on Saturday, July 30.
This year’s event raised more than $6,000 for diabetes research efforts.
The event was held at Hilltop Sports in Whipple, Ohio with over a dozen shooters participating in the competition.

Across the county, Building Trades Unions have come together around DAD’s Day to promote the cause of finding a cure to the disease that affects 1 in 10 Americans.
Since DAD’s Day was first initiated in 1987, more than $57 million has been raised to support research aiming to put an end to diabetes.
Buddy Malone, Business Manager for the Parkersburg-Marietta Building and Construction Trades Council, explains the importance of this annual event.
“We take pride in the money we are able to raise for diabetes research every year,” said Malone. “The Sporting Clay Shoot helps to support a great cause and also provides our members with an opportunity to come out and have a good time together.”
