What is a Boilermaker?
A boilermaker is a skilled tradesperson who works in industrial construction, repair and maintenance; manufacturing; shipbuilding and marine repair: on railroads, mining and quarrying, cement kilns, dams and related industries. They fabricate, install and maintain industrial boilers tanks and closed vats. Boilermakers often work in power plants, refineries, and factories, as well as shipyards.
So, what is the difference between a welder and a boilermaker?
While boilermakers and welders both work with their hands, boilermakers have jobs that are more varied than only metal fabrication, where welders mainly focus on the actual forging/welding of metal. Boilermakers may read blueprints, use measuring tools and also work doing maintenance on structures and within industrial plants.
