The Roofers Local #188 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee Standards program is sponsored by both labor and management and supplies employers with highly skilled workers who apply quality roofing and waterproofing systems to keep Americas buildings dry.

Roofers Local 188 JATC accepts applications year round at 2003 Warwood Avenue in Wheeling, WV during normal business hours.  Apprentices are accepted on an as needed basis.
Apprentices learn their craft by training on the job (paid) under proper supervision and by studying technical subjects related to the roofing trade at the training center.  Once apprentices have learned the practical and technical aspects of the work, they graduate to journeyperson status.
Roofers Local 188 represents members in Northern West Virginia and East-Central Ohio who apply all types of roofing and waterproofing systems, including but not limited to: all low-sloped roofing systems, structural waterproofing, steep-sloped roofing systems and air barrier applications.
Our goal is to provide the safest and best-trained roofers in the industry for our signatory contractors with an emphasis on training, safety and cooperation.
Roofing apprenticeship programs generally run for three years with a total of 420 classroom hours and 6,000 work hours.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be at least 18 years of age. There is no maximum age.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Applicants must be willing to travel for work.
Applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of work.
There are no specific educational requirements to enter the program, however, applicants must be able to read and speak English in order to comprehend instruction and in related job activities to ensure safety on the job.
Applicants must be prepared to work at extreme heights and on sloping surfaces.
Applicants must be prepared to lift heavy materials and equipment.
Applicants must reside in the following counties:

In WV- Ohio, Marshall, Brooke, and Hancock
In OH- Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, Muskingum
